Hello.I just upgraded to Windows 7 and my firewire camcorder is not detected anymore by Windows. It does detect the 1394 card but it just doesn't see the camera regardless of having the camera turned on and playing a tape.I've seen a several posts indicating people solving the issue by reverting to the legacy 1394 driver so I decided to give it a try. However, every time I try to change the driver I get an error message.This is what I do:Right click on Computer and click Properties, then Device ManagerDouble click IEEE 1394 Bus host controllersRight click on the device listed under this heading, click Update DriverClick 'Browse my computer for driver software'Click 'Let me pick from a list'Select '1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)'Up to this point everything is fine. Then when it is actually trying to install the driver the 'Installing driver software.' No IEEE 1394 driver was ever supplied with it. The first time I hooked it to the firewire port under XP it was detected automatically by the OS.I understand the legacy driver comes bundled in Windows 7. We found a problem when we tried to use the FireWire port on our computers that were running Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 and Windows 10.
